The first step in reading music
How to Read Lyrics and Chords:
Play the chord as a particular word is sung in the music. The chords are above the lyrics. For example:

Mary had a little lamb
G C
Little lamb, little lamb
The chords are above the lyrics. You strum the chord above the particular word when that word is sung.
